Musical Maggie

Maggie has always loved music, she probably get it from me! We have it on in the house ALL THE TIME. She is also a lot like me in that she seems to have a hard time falling asleep at night. It seems like her little mind just won't stop. She is a lot better now about staying in her room and has learned to entertain herself in there. We have always kept the radio on for her as she goes to sleep and it is always on the local Christian radio station. She has favorite songs and each time the song comes on the radio she runs out of the room very excited asking Mike and I to join her to sing. The other night the David Crowder song came on and she wanted Mike to dance with her while it played. Tonight "I will Rise" by Chris Tomlin came on and she came to get me. This is a song we sing together a lot. I have decided that she likes music that changes speed and intensity (pardon my lack of musical vocabulary) with crescendos. Anyways, tonight she calls me in to sing with her and then began questioning me on the lyrics. She wanted to know, "why Jesus has overcome" and "what is pain?" I, of course, took the opportunity to explain how Jesus rose from the grave on the 3rd day and how when those who love Jesus, and call him their Savior, make it to heaven they will never hurt again. Her face at those moments is priceless. She seems so at peace and happy to hear the words. I love it that she is not only listening to the music (she informed me at the crescendo- "this song gets faster now, Mommy") but also to the words! After her song was over she then asked me to make a song book with her tomorrow. She wants to have the words to all of her favorite songs because she doesn't know them all and sometimes daddy forgets them. So tomorrow our project will be to print out the words to her songs and bind them in a "song book" for her. As I type this it is 10:15pm and she has not fallen asleep yet.

More funny stuff

Happy New Year! Here's some more funny things from the kiddos: Here's the dialogue between Caleb and I the other night before bed. Me: Caleb, what do you want to tell God thank you for? Caleb: Ummmm. . . chicken nuggets Me: Ok anything else Caleb: french fries. . . . . and ketchup! Me: anything else? Caleb: no I guess the kid just really really likes chicken nuggets! He has been thanking God for those everyday for at least the last 5 months! Ever since Mike took Maggie to see the Nutcracker before Christmas, she has been dancing around the house in her ballet outfits. Her favorite song to dance to is "How he Loves Us" by The David Crowder Band. She does her own little interpretive dance to it. It makes me smile so big because she knows to go slow when the music is slow and quiet and then when it gets louder she moves bigger and goes faster. I swear someday she will perform on a stage for a living.
